A standby letter of credit issued subject to ISP98 requires the demand to show wording by use of quotation marks: "We hereby certify that the amount of $[state amount in words and numbers] represents and covers the current outstanding obligations due and payable to us by the applicant." Demand presented by beneficiary showing "We hereby certify that the amount of $10,000 represents and covers the current outstanding payment obligations due and payable to us by the applicant." Does the demand comply with rule 4.09 of ISP98, or does the additional word "payment" in the beneficiary's statement render it discrepant?
