ICC issue updated Opinion Handling Procedure and Terms of Reference

23/11/2016

At the Banking Commission Executive Committee meeting on 7 November 2016 in Rome, the decision was taken to:

- make Official Opinion requests subject to ICC membership. Formerly, any entity could approach a national committee or banking association with a request for an Official Opinion. However, as a privilege of ICC membership, Official Opinions will now only be processed for members

- de-centralise the informal, everyday queries received by the Secretariat to local National Committees. In deference to local national committee expertise, the Technical Advisory team will no longer directly respond to informal queries. However, should the concerned National Committee require aid in responding, they may request it via the Secretariat.
